TW: rape
The above graphic, passed along by the Huffington Post‘s Laura Bassett, was put together by the Enliven Project using data from Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey and FBI reports. It drives home extremely well the fact that false rape accusations are exceedingly rare, despite what media reports might suggest. Almost as rare are cases when rapists actually go to jail.
1) If you think that reverse racism exists,
check your privilege.
There can be prejudice against white people, but there cannot be racism against white people. Racism = priviledge + power.
2) If you think “If there’s a black history month, why isn’t there a white history month?”
check your privilege.
Seriously, how many white people have you learned about in history class? A lot, right? Think about how many POCs you’ve learned about in history class. Not a lot, right? We need Black History Month. If not for BHM, many people would not learn about our culture.
3)If you think that if there should be a men’s history month, because there’s a women history month
Check your privilege.
Again, I propose the same question. How many men have you learned about in history class? Probably a lot, right? Now, think about the women you’ve learned about in history class. Not a lot.
4)If you think that POCs should “get over” the unfair treatment of their race from the American Government, now or ever.
Check your privilege.
Seriously, in America, we have wronged a LOT of POCs. In the past, it was government mandated. Racism still exists in this country, and it’s not something that you can just “get over”, it’s something that we need to fight.
5) If you think that “oh, if PoCS can say -insert race- power, why can’t white people say white power?”
Check your privilege.
PoCs don’t have as much power as white people do. We say -insert race- power because we need to be empowered. We say this so that we can be seen as human beings, which is what we fight for.
Our culture is run on a patriarchal culture that caters to white men. We need equality. Feminism isn’t only about white women, y’all. The threat from the patriarchy is for ALL of us. When I say we fight for equality, I don’t mean for white women and white men. I mean for ALL of us. Women of all colors need to fight for equality, for women and for race. But it won’t happen unless a lot of you check your privilege.

Relevant still.
And therefore, I have to be held to a different standard than you penis-havers to be considered remotely as an equal. Thanks for enlightening me, dudebros!
